Sony and Big Studios alike don't know how to make money with superhero movies

Madame Web

Sony's latest superhero movie, starring big names like Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, has failed in the eyes of critics and fans, despite the fact that the same studio made Spiderverse and No Way Home, which were worldwide successes.

What studios don't understand?

Big studios often don't know what fans want, and they have their own bubble or circle of people who will tell them that it's a great idea. No fan has asked for Madame Web, so no one is interested in it.

Superhero movies don't work anymore:

Believe it or not, superheroes are slowly dying at the box office. Most of the superhero movies are PG-13, and fans are bored of them. There was a time when people wanted to see their favourite comic book characters come to life, and CGI was a new thing back then, and it helped create a world full of wonders, but now everyone has seen everything, and they want to see something new.

Gen Z doesn't care about superheroes anymore because they were born in an era of tiktok and social media, and most of them have seen violence in movies at an early age, so there's no interest in Gen Z for PG-13 superhero movies.

Why R-rated movies can save the superhero genre:

From time to time, everything needs to be changed a little, and it's time for the superhero genre to adapt R-rated content like Deadpool did.

Recently, there has been a lot of hype for adult, unhinged superhero movies and shows. The Boys TV show is a good example; it has violence, blood, and sex, and it is the first of its kind to have such unhinged characters who say anything and do anything, literally.

Studios and companies like Sony, Disney, and WB, which own superhero rights, should try to reinvent the genre by making R-rated movies with violence, blood, sex, and some nudity, and they should stop trying to make movies for kids because kids these days don't read any comics and no adult have interest in clean, PG-13 movies.
